Langenberg - old city with a young heart

Velbert, situated on the lower mountain ranges and settled on the southern edge of the Ruhr region, is the point where the economic regions of the Rhine, Ruhr and Wupper meet and is embedded in the triangle formed by the cities of Düsseldorf, Essen and Wuppertal.

Despite its proximity to the surrounding large cities, Velbert with over 84,000 inhabitants lies in the middle of the countryside. The three districts Neviges, Langenberg and the so-called Velbert-Mitte are separated by forests and meadows.

Districts with charm

Neviges and its Mariendorn are very popular destinations for pilgrimages. In addition to that, you will also find that there is an entire valley of modern organic farming in Neviges.

In Langenberg’s winding old streets, there are always new things to discover. With the WDR TV-mast as a landmark, the city also provides an interesting arts and cultural scene that enjoys nationwide recognition. Langenberg has for several years been developing more and more into a city of books. Several antiquarian book shops are also open at the weekends.

Lively Velbert – it’s all in the mix

Velbert-Mitte is the seat of numerous authorities and organisations and offers a wide range of shopping opportunities. Numerous events in the “Forum Niederberg” revive the city. The attractiveness of the city centre is based on its multifunctionality: a balanced mix of trade, work, housing as well as recreation and catering.
